The Lantern in the Storm

During a long, dark winter, a village lost power after a great storm. Homes went cold, and fear spread faster than the wind. In one small house, a child lit a single lantern and placed it in the window. Neighbors saw the light and, one by one, stepped out with their own candles and lanterns. Soon, the whole street glowed—not because the storm had passed, but because someone chose to hold onto light.

Hope works like that lantern. It doesn’t erase the storm, but it keeps the dark from having the final word. Our efforts in the coming year are meant to be that light—small acts, steady hearts, and the belief that tomorrow can be better. When we move forward with hope, we don’t just warm our own homes; we help an entire street find its way. May hope be spoken, lived, and carried in every heart we touch.
